The veteran in high spirits

Yet another trio CD Keith Jarrett, one wonders. On the shelves are already but almost half a meter CDs from the last 20 years, including milestone as the "Blue Note" box or "Still Live" from the Cologne Philharmonie. Many among them is very similar. A stylistic progress you can make out only partially.

Nevertheless, this concert recording (from 2001) of Montreux has it all: The trio played that evening in a relaxed atmosphere. The good mood is noticeable - in the interpretation, in some laughs the musician and the audience euphoric. Old standards like "Is not Misbehavin '" and "Honeysuckle Rose" are presented peppy and playful; as playful, as we have never heard of "the" Trio. This has nothing to do with Altersabgeklärtheit. No, the three men sound as fresh as ever.
