Yesterday the new router has landed with me. Amazon has the first course withdrawn without asking. Morning and evening, sent away the money was already there. Can not believe you actually. But back to the topic.

Router is there and it also goes the same lot. Latest firmware on it and then get back to the settings.
Immediately after the first restart with new settings the same problem as the first model. I could not believe it. 5GHz completely dead. The engine could not be started. LED "off" software displays "on". WLAN clients from not visible (because of course not yet started).
I have made myself in disbelief at searching the net, what it's all about. Could not believe that 2 routers of this variety have this same problem, and here no one else reported it.

I have found the solution. My wireless password had characters in it that the firmware of ASUS likes nothing and therefore the 5 GHz module is directly to set up the wireless network irrevocably to its knees. It then helps only to reset the factory settings. So to make it short ... who wants to use the 5 GHz -> use only alphanumeric characters. Very important! It concerns not all special characters, so please do not rummeckern that it is yet. If you stick to the rule, you are on the safe side.

In any case the jewel is now running great. Hardware now has time to take care of the traffic and not just have churning try to boot the module. Accordingly, now fits the performance. Top.
ASUS could but say in the firmware in order to avoid a problem. Better, of course, fix the bug. Also why still only 4 stars.

I have reserved to myself a few days ago to get this router. I know myself quite well with these things and already have a RT-AC66U who is also super go with Merlin firmware. The more I have looked forward to this gem.

Unfortunately, the whole half a disaster. I have two evenings together and determined 10 hours spent adjust the part so far that it can replace my RT-AC66U (this I then wanted to use as a repeater). Unfortunately without success.

I have several firmwares by more than 10 times the factory settings, etc. An eternal back and forth and at the end stood the return. Disconnections, complete lack of 5GHz band (which the firmware has even seemingly only found if you wanted to set up a guest network), poor performance in both bands.

I am writing this time all of the software or to have the fact caught a Monday model ...

In any case, the reviews make me here courage, who argue that the second or third model brought the success.

I have compared with the complete competition and have come to the conclusion that it must be ASUS again since the rest on the other hand does not arrive. If this is not, then I have to wait for the successor.
