You know him as "Above the Clouds" singer, but that was now already more than 20 years, and only one of the many facets of Reinhard Mey, who earned the only German artist entitled "chansonnier". For me this CD is his best, because most balanced. Mey can anything critical, the zeitgeist reflective songs are just his thing as funny, ironic and imaginative. And nothing sounds contrived, asked nothing, no verses a la "rhyme you or I eat you"; there fits a mosaic beside the other, and there are wonderful songs. Can be found on this CD countless Mey'sche gems - "Peter," a winking tribute to man's best friend, "Dark Rum", a sprightly piece, which describes our common yearning for peace from the daily grind, or "label" in which we Mey proves that he really with less draft governs the use of language even when texts. Pensive found with "October 3 '91", "border" or "dignity of the Pig", where Mey addressed his first concern xenophobia, GDR regime and animal transport. My absolute favorite is "I love the end of the season" - a wonderfully poetic, thoughtful, but also funny song about the end of summer and the beginning of the quieter seasons. This CD is a true masterpiece. Buy and listen at your leisure! (This is an Amazon.com at the university-student review.)
