First the positive
- Best processing
- Nice, stable housing
- Intelligent ergonomics and clean functioning buttons / switch (for large hands somewhat fiddly)
- Settings leave little to be desired, yet simple menu navigation, control ring on the lens, individually programmable function buttons
- Great, fast lens
- Super BQ
Compared with Nikon P330 and Canon S110, I had still drawn the short list, I can say that the XZ-2 provides excellent image quality, especially with RAW can be rausholen even the finest details - this is fun! But also in terms of feel and processing it plays in a different league. (Although I like my D7000, but the rickety plastic case the P330 Nikon I could do is not easy.)
What has then but not made my decision so easy
- The camera is compared with (the) other models more difficult. While this speaks for their quality, but it is suitable for your pocket unfortunately definitely not. For my taste, Olympus should better give up the (thick, badly made) folding screen. The housing may be slimmer by a few millimeters.
- Focusing on the touch is a great thing, why Olympus has presented but the other opportunities offered by a touch screen? For me incomprehensible: no menu operation via touch, which could simplify the usability even further.
- The video function is only rudimentary. No touch focus during recording (a pity!), No pause function and the so-called. Art Filters can be in spite of advertising promises (!) Lost in Videomudus (jerky image is not).
- Automatic lens cover for 30, - as an extra is a nuisance (at 550, - Euro-camera)!
- Focal length unfortunately only starting from 28mm
- Unusable Panorama function
Conclusion: For 550, - I would have certainly not bought me. But for the price (240, -) is to get my estimation, hardly anything better in the segment. All in all, a definite recommendation.
