I come back from Japan and luckily I had other guides and advice from friends who stayed. The Tokyo-Kyoto Backpacker bought just before 2013 is a waste of money, minimalist, lousy and riddled with errors. It started the first day that I wanted find this famous restaurant nice 2 steps from my hotel in Ikebukuro. Unable to locate the sign (and due in the backpacker, the name of the restaurant is written only in romaji ...) was sought, called google map to the rescue and asked for directions to realize that the restaurant n longer existed. It was not the exception, in the case of 50% of the addresses we sought. Plans are damn wrong, too small with 50% of large street whose name is not noted and half the addresses are outside the plan. After 4 days of frustration, Backpacker ended in the trash when they realized that the famous Don Quijote store store vaunted was not in Shinjuku, but in Ginza (30 minutes by train anyway) ...
Besides the title certainly does not mystery, but just focus on Tokyo and Kyoto, suppose to buy another guide for Osaka, Hiroshima, Okayama, Hakone. (!) The phrasebook half a page is also a monument of platitudes and a dismaying uselessness for practical exchanges: there are not even words to ask anything in a train station (reservation, schedule, date, for example).
