Many refer to Imperial Assault as Descent 2.5, but as Descent 2 was the absolute nightmare balance and the rules have been slimmed approximately compared to Descent 1 on risk level, this game has never existed in my eyes (just like Episodes I - III never really existed). I would therefore call Imperial Assault as Descent 2.
Everything has been good in Descent 1 was adopted. The motion and objective rules and the circular flow were changed fundamentally and improve the gaming experience immensely. The balance between OL and players has also been greatly optimized compared to Descent 1. There is a sophisticated campaign and a so-called. Skirmish mode in the small Scharmüzel can be played (from the story detached).
The models are allerfeinesten FFG-typical from. The manual is also FFG typically confusing and divided now in 3 (!) Books (yes, even in the campaign book are div. Rules listed), resulting initially jump to a desert between the respective control specifications. After all, FFG has finally managed to create it times an index. The rules themselves are complex and there are (FFG-typical) not all eventualities and possibilities or combinations abgedekt, so you often then finds himself during a game of games in discussions and in various forums rule.
The package, however, is an absolute insult. This is a simple box, which is a bit too small DOT. In a game worth about 100 - would FFG can spendieren also an adequately sized box with corresponding inlay.
But as I rate the game and not the box or the instructions, I say with Mage Wars together form the Imperial Assault Board Games Zenit and is a must have for every Boardgamegeek!
