The great novelty of this third volume is the alternating narration Tris / Tobias. Personally, I loved because Tobias is my favorite character, I was delighted to finally "get into his head." However, I recognize that 2 tones are very similar, it happened to me several times of having to refer to the beginning of the chapter to find the narrator. Must say that we have become so used either Tris, that I happened to forget on the way I was with Tobias. After, is it really a problem? Tris and Tobias are so similar in many ways their similarity tone not shocked me more than that and it is with great anticipation that I await the release of the next book by Veronica Roth "Four: a Divergent story collection "where you will be able to dive back into the universe of the factions but from the point of view of this time Tobias and discover its own initiation, everything he thinks and feels.
As for the plot ... already, I loved the first 100 pages of the book. It has humor, light and romantic scenes, beyond the main plot but which are so much fun. Small "breaks" quite substantial before leaving on crusade. But then it's more oppressive. The outside world brings many interesting answers but also many disappointments and the author takes pleasure to plunge his characters in a cruel fate. I think of Tori, to Uriah, Matthew ... Since the volume 2, I got used to expect that any character dies suddenly and it plunges into a state of stress not always easy to bear.
But the overall message of this book is interesting: the theory of conspiracy pushed to its extreme; the manipulation of the masses into believing they are responsible for the deplorable state of the country (for GDs) or otherwise constrained to follow certain rules of conduct to contribute to its reconstruction (for GPs); the truth about the past of humanity deliberately hidden to convince of this ambivalence. Once again, Roth struggle against a Manichean worldview.
I can understand that some were disappointed with the "outside world" limited just "Office" established in a former airport, but I can not imagine too how the exploration of the outer world could have been done differently while maintaining the bottom plot.
To conclude:
- From a global perspective plot (why and become factions), the book keeps its promises and rather sobering about the human condition and questionable sacrifices that some are able to do in the name of the famous "greater good" ;
- From the perspective of the "small" story, the story of the characters you meet, get to know and enjoy, this book is cruel and leaves a very bitter taste. I understand all those whose morale was rolled by reading this book and I join those who have rebelled: life is already not funny and very disappointing, if I read it is to escape and dream then why turn this sweet nightmare dream?
But that's okay because I had a bombshell idea and even if certain details by Roth gave me a hard time, I remain attached to my idea! After all, everything is possible in fiction and I intend to cheer me up by developing the details of my stop me!
PS: I learned that it was already planned to cut the book into 2 movies (like HP, Twilight and Hunger Games), I find this stupid decision because history does not lend itself absolutely and therefore it reveals just need to make a lot of money max on the back of a trilogy that will consequently more a ... But by cons, if you change the end I might be able to forgive you! P
