My Opinion
The third band of Skulduggery Pleasant series is full of action, violence and struggles, but also with humor, friendship and imagination.
Since the events of the second volume about a year has passed and Valkyrie is now 14 years of age. At home or at school, it is virtually no longer, all the normal things done for you at her reflection. Their magical abilities are also a bit more, and it has the element of water so far very neglected. As in the earlier volumes, it is very tough and brave, but always ends up in precarious and dangerous situations and must be saved often, where they always tried to help themselves. To be dependent on others you do not like so much, and even less when kenspeckle Grouse, the doctor who cures her injuries every other day, and has taken a fancy to her, skulduggery criticized for its lack of responsibility Valkyrie against sharp. That she is still a child, and only 14 years old she is very disturbing and it is not like noted.
Skul is as ever sarcastic, cynical and self-absorbed and makes what is the meaning to him. That he was thrown out of the sanctuary and is in danger of being arrested, bothers him very little. It works well so that he does not care that Valkyrie becomes a hunted with him, yet one notices in many places again and again that he would do anything to save Valkyrie from any danger. I guess he has developed something like father feelings for her.
In addition to the well-known figures such as Tanith Low, Billy-Ray Sanguine, Thurid Guild or Mr. Bliss also some new emerging that have me all liked it very much and seemed authentic. Fletcher, the narcissistic and arrogant teleporter who believes he can do everything alone, noticing only then that he desperately needed help. Frankly Crux was so extremely unpleasant, I have several times wished to rise through the book and times to shake the idiot strong - but still I liked his role in the book, because it exactly the type of person embodies the blind any prompts and commands follows, without questioning it.
The plot is in this band certainly darker and more action-packed than in the volumes before and actually to enter the fighting just as the jack in hand. I doubt that Valkyrie in the book was more than five hours of sleep. You and Skul rushing from here to there, struggling with this and that, just about five minutes later add nozzle elsewhere and to fight against someone else. At times, it was perhaps a little too much, but as the action all the time remained thrilling and exciting in any case.
Have particularly liked the hints to the mirror image of Valkyrie, which was supposed to be completely unemotional and due form, but in time, after the events in the second volume, a life of its own seems to be developing. Overall, I found this tape back a lot funnier than its predecessor and had to repeatedly laugh while reading. Even the ingenuity of the author has been able to convince me again. Especially because I mean the scene in the basement of Gordon House.
Towards the end it comes again to an exciting showdown and this time many lose their lives and several twists and surprises came to light that I did not expect. The end of this time is much more open than that of the first two volumes and lets you back a little flabbergasted. I as a reader would like to know in any case as soon as possible how the tricky situation in the next band can be resolved.
I doubt so frankly that the books are really suitable for children under twelve years (in the book is "9+"), but because they are in places very brutal and some scenes are described in great detail. I can be wrong, of course, I honestly do not remember exactly what a nine year old child can handle and what is not so.
Conclusion
The band has given me a whole a little better liked than the second volume, I could again discover more expected of the humor. The action was thrilling, exciting and very bloody and certainly not for people with weak nerves. The end as a cliffhanger leaves me as a reader a little unsatisfied, because I want to know, of course, what happens next. In any case, this book is recommended again and I forgive 5 Stars!
