We treated ourselves to Christmas 2009 the Philips HX6932 / 34 Sonicare FlexCare with two handpieces and all kinds of accessories.
My first experience with electric toothbrushes come from the 80's and were very sobering ....
The Philips is of course no longer be compared to the old things. ;)
By a very quick and down movement of the brush head (hence the term "sonic") between the teeth are cleaned mechanically both through the bristles and through the "accelerated" toothpaste "flushed".
This results in my tight interdental spaces to a much better result than a rotating brush head, which I bought time and have tested with the handpiece of a friend.
Since I have very narrow interdental spaces, I have previously always tended to use the (hand) toothbrush with a lot of pressure and have thereby greatly strained the gums. This often resulted in little bleeding gums.
When Philips that works extremely well even without much pressure and since the acquisition of Sonic I had never bleeding gums. Of course, one does not come without flossing, but a test with Färbetabletten has shown that the Sonic is doing a quite excellent.
Cleaning is divided into four sections of equal length, in which between the quarters is a brief pause in the upward and downward movement. This is purified each quarter (top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right) of the same length and thus presumably the same thoroughly.
Very handy are the various settings of the toothbrush, the one with the changes to sensitive and somewhat unfavorably placed Function button:
* If you've never had a sonic toothbrush in his hand, one should first start with the "Sensitive" attitude, because you have to get used to the high-frequency approach of Sonic. After three or four days, you can then switch to the normal "clean" operation.
* The gum "massage" function (short pauses between intense movement spurts) I personally find not so useful, but that is something any judge himself.
* The "Max Care" function is a series of functions "Clean" and "massage", with one quarter of the mouth is completely handled (30 seconds cleaning followed by a massage. After that the next quarter of the mouth comes Ran, starting again with the cleaning function.)
* Very practical is also half as long lasting "Go Care" function. I use every time before I leave the house. Morning and evening is then carried out the thorough cleaning with "Clean".
The UV lamp disinfects more than two brush heads simultaneously in a very short time (a few seconds). I mean, however, to have registered that a very common use of the lifetime of the brush head lowered (the blue bristles lose their color after a certain time and thus indicate that a new brush head is necessary). Nevertheless, I use the UV lamp gladly and often.
The included travel charger is very convenient, because then not great UV station must take. But for trips under a week you need eh no charger: Depending on usage (evening I clean sometimes even longer than only one pass) holding the brush around two to three weeks. The charging time of a completely empty brush lasts longer than one night.
Included are also two travel containers, one really only a thin pocket with Velcro closure, wherein the brush in tightly packed travel bags makes itself ever own and the other a hard plastic box for a handpiece and two brush heads (is turned on!) Is. How long will this "articulated" the box yet I do not know. Both the closure as well as the "hinges" are formed in this unfortunate kink shape. After one and a half years, but still looks quite good, even if they are already much easier to move.
In summary one can say that I have extremely satisfied with the Sonic and the school grade would "1" assigned.
Here once again listed the main points:
+ It cleans extremely well! Feels after cleaning like a professional dental cleaning.
+ In this package with two handpieces, three (!) Brush heads (two normal and one small), a charging station with UV cleaners, a travel charger and two pockets an unbeatable price / performance ratio.
+ Customizable with three brushing modes and two additional programs for individual needs.
+ Runtime of lithium-ion batteries
- Toggle the settings and programs is inconveniently located so that one because often times accidentally comes off while brushing your teeth.
- Articulated hinges on the travel box
- Expensive replacement heads
The few and rather unimportant criticisms can not belie the essential point:
It cleans extremely well!
Previously, you had at least once a year with me tartar are removed, the thing of the past! My dentist is quite surprised at how little tartar has formed with me since then.
In addition, my coffee drinkers teeth are white! This is only subjective, but both my wife and my friends have confirmed this.
For good cleaning results I can play a single note 1 forgive, but I want to provide due to the minor criticisms with a small minus. In other words: 5 stars!
Three little advice for last:
1. Always the Philips HX6014 / 35 Sonicare FlexCare brush attachment 3 pack +1 free standard size (Limited Edition) purchase replacement brush heads that are much cheaper, especially if you find times when I-am-but-not-stupid group available!
2. NEVER be switched brush take from the mouth - NEVER! Otherwise you have to change clothes and the bathroom clean new because the Sonic distributes the toothpaste-saliva mixture in all 3 dimensions! ;)
3rd and last but not least, a tip for all parents: The children's version is just fine! Our daughter brushing since she is 4 with the Philips Sonicare for Kids and their dentists are always delighted when they checked the teeth of our daughter every quarter!
