This book, written almost in one go, recounts the crazy years of some of the inspirers of the beat generation. For history is actually that of Jack Kerouac himself, and characters that surround it are real, even if the author has hidden under pseudonyms. Totally away from the conventions of society "traditional", the young heroes are eager for enjoyment, sex, alcohol, crazy trips are their daily lot and form the storyline. Real calamity for those around them, young people remain yet friendly, a sort of candor, lack of aggressiveness herald the principles of hippy movement. A little boring at the beginning, the book quickly takes breath, and ends up being fascinated to read this story disheveled, rich vocabulary and an atypical characteristic of the time. For this reason, read a translation probably withdraw a lot of interest in the book, which deserves the success in the US, and has not aged.
