Three stories of women between France and Senegal, apparently unrelated except some tenuous nest and scattered elements, scattered here and there: the first fights against the unexpected return of a destructive and perverse father in decline; the second is an uprooted, faces a socially husband missed and poor provincial life; the last part in a journey into hell, forced by his family to immigrate. The style is precise, sometimes tinged tale of mystery. Marie Ndiaye uses three scenes lives that summon their way various tragedies that have in common the deep wounds and humiliations indelible. Powerless against an implacable fate, they become strong in the grace of a great novelistic talent.
