With the actual soldering iron I am also satisfied. That he smokes a little during the initial start perfectly normal and no cause for alarm. These are simple production residues that are located on the metal and are burnt off at the first heating. Then you have peace.
The handle is at work a little warm - which was to be expected - but not uncomfortably hot. Have worked hours with him without problems.
The soldering iron needs a few minutes until it is at operating temperature. The tip is sufficiently hot, but it's true that the top of the tip could be even hotter. The tip can be replaced, however. I have not tried it yet, but I would imagine that a higher-quality soldering tip resolves the issue.
All in all a decent product with few minor weaknesses, although not really disturb or hinder the work and for the price absolutely reasonable.
