You have to admit. When the Live CD "Maiden England" was published in 1988 together with the VHS tape, and I wondered about the tinny sound. I already knew the live testimony "Live After Death", which was, however, worked with overdubs. In "Maiden England" does not seem to be the case. Bassist Steve Harris took over parts of the production and wanted to create a genuine historical document for posterity. I can still hear that everything should be like the Maiden fan stops concerts. This is also managed the band with "Maiden England". The new version sounds much more differentiated and heterogeneous than the original from 1988 - I would say: round, voluminous and warmer. But louder and nuances. The tinny sound gives way to a wealth of detail that we can hear Harris' bass better now, the Beck stop by Nicko McBrain on "The Evil That Men Do", which was missing in the original. In addition to the complete, newly mixed and uncut original recording, we still get the bonus of the original missing pieces "Run To The Hills", "Sanctuary" and "Running Free" and a well-designed booklet. Along with the DVD a real plus for Maiden fans and a small consolation for the impatient Maidenianer waiting for the long overdue LP of Britons, to be published in 2014 and "Back To The Roots" to go. Let's wait.
