The author has created a rich universe where we find vampires, fey and other fantastic creatures (which we hope to see later), but also a distinct people: the Arktensys composed of Dashi mages and fey.
Vampires, far from being a threat to humanity, are being chase by several organizations that have taken the idea dannihiler all of their species, and of the most barbaric ways. They are therefore isolated on the island of Shilo and a team of vampires, based in Kolderick (operational center), handpicked and extremely well trained, is in charge of their protection. Fortunately, they have allies such as the Arktensys community.
The story is very interesting and very well supplied. I expected to discover directly Tayla adult and this is a narration of his views. But no, not at all, I fourvoyais, that's even better. The narration is shared between different characters. There is no real flagship protagonist, they all share the limelight. This is something that I enjoyed. Each character has his past (with the scars that go with it), his life, his problems, his loves. However, they are all related in one way or another and the transition from one view to another can follow the story and advance in the plot. Everything is really very well done, the reader learns about these vampires and wizards, and one can not help but focus on this little group. I can not tell which is my favorite character as they all have seduced me in their own way. For indeed, they are all very different from each other, they form a very heterogeneous group and thus particularly exciting to follow.
Although the story takes place quickly enough, the author has managed to handle very well overall. Everything is very well explained and we always have the right to an explanatory phrase to inform us or explain the reason of an event or action. Playback is smooth, the sequences and clear transitions and pages turn by themselves. Nevertheless, this is probably where the downside of this book is that I would have thoroughly enjoyed it lasts longer.
Finally, the power of the player will take a big hit during playback. Between particularly well written scenes that raise the temperature, those where one terribly stress for the characters or those that make us laugh unexpectedly, the reader can not remain indifferent to what happens in the book . (Be careful not to read in the transport, I know something, or redness between the laughter, I had to give me a show.)
