If the beginning of the book is a little dry, we let quickly seduced by the misadventures of young Benjamin lost in the midst of a capitalist world he understands nothing. A rather successful rewriting which, to be fully appreciated, however, requires rereading the original Voltaire. Monnier tries indeed here to modernize the story while multiplying the winks to its model of enlightenment and it would be a pity not to seize any hints.
