"Suicide Club" brings 3 new issues of "New Arabian Nights" by Robert Louis Stevenson. These stories revolve around a group of characters, including the most significant are the Prince Florizel of Bohemia, his devoted Colonel Geraldine, and the club president of suicide. It is because of his thirst for adventure as Prince Florizel, accompanied by Colonel Geraldine, is seen driven, incognito, in a club where disaster playing a card game that will be designating the same evening , hit by Death, who will execute the sentence. The excitement of the unknown and the fascination with this mortal danger will push players to join the club, before they are faced with a terrible dilemma. The two following stories reveal the consequences of events that have taken place in the first new, adopting the perspective of sometimes ridiculous supporting characters (like Silas Scuddamore in "The Doctor and the trunk of Saratoga"). This reading proves pleasant and fast; however, we find nothing unforgettable. Stevenson made us have a good time, without however succeed to make us his endearing protagonists (Florizel strongly resembles a caricature of the perfect dandy, Geraldine to zealous servant to the improbable about the club chairman suicide it is an antagonist without any relief). Only a few secondary characters have a credible personality; I think especially the young man with the cream tarts. With the exception of the first story, suspense exists only at the beginning of the news, when a character is faced with an unusual situation; but the reader, having read previous news finally understands quickly what it will be question. Anyway, the book's success is the first new: the author has succeeded in making the tension in the cards at the club of suicide, and we are surprised to shiver with what might happen to the unfortunate protagonists ...
In short, a pleasant reading, but we will probably forget quickly.
