Wherever you go on the internet, we find negative comments about the Kobo Aura HD; for example, post "Disappointing, unbearable response time" (about the black version).
Do not fall for it: the negative reviews are written by people paid by the competition - or they are written by idiots.
For example, we read: "No ergonomic at all because of the" hump "on the back."
But there are no "hump" on the back of Kobo Aura HD. What he has there is two folds, well designed, giving the feeling of holding a book, rather than a flat computer thing. It is a model of ergonomics and comfort.
For example: "Display painful slowness."
Nothing is wrong: passing from one page to another a book by two tenths of a second.
For example: "The support for PDF as: display slow, painful framework of adjustment or even impossible given the slow response of the reading light, setting misplaced initial page."
This is another ridiculous criticism.
First, a reading light is not designed to read PDF, and PDF are not designed to be read on a reading light. Some PDF going well on a reading light, others do not. And it will be on _n'importe quelle_ reading light.
So send it criticizes the Kobo Aura HD is not only ridiculous but also stupid: a PDF is displayed on a _mieux_ Aura HD than any other reading light, for two reasons: 1. The resolution is higher; 2. The screen is larger.
For example: "I was attracted by the" buzz "around the HD display is correct, but not stand out as spectacularly as marketing the claims of other e-ink reading lights, and a few centimeters / DPI. earned not add much to my personal reading experience. "
Under cover of a personal opinion, that user finds a way to denigrate the highest quality of Kobo Aura HD: a much larger screen, which immensely enhances the reading experience: one is in the sensation "paperback"; try the HD is immediately realize that all other players are provided with a pokey undersized screen as on the other drives.
Connection to the internet? I have done that. A reading lamp is a reading light, and it is not designed for to walk on the Internet. To buy my ebooks, I just connect with my PC: it's much more comfortable, and the transfer to the reading light is easy, via USB cable - it is provided, and it is also absolutely gorgeous (nothing to do with the black stuff of trade).
What I think of Aura HD?
Yes it is more expensive. But it is, under _all_ aspects, much higher than all other reading lights in the market. Well thought out ergonomics, and especially, especially, a reading supreme comfort, thanks to the fineness of the display, choice of characters, margins, and line spacing, and the size of the screen.
Much higher than any other reading light - and obviously superior to any machine with a "normal" screen as an iPad, which is _not_ made to read, and which quickly gives evil eyes if we try to read a book.
Three tips.
1. Buy leather cover _de in Kobo_. Yes, again, it is expensive, but unlike the others, it is perfect. Leather, it easily folds backwards, and then has the perfect feel of a folded pocket book. And when the flap on the screen, the reading light instantly goes into sleep mode - and instantly starts to the right page when it reopens. Supremely enjoyable.
2. On the base computer, use the ebook manager "Calibre"; it's free, it's perfect, and that's perfectly coordinates with Kobo.
3. Buy the Kobo Aura HD _blanc_: the margin seems wider, and the lack of contrast between the white page and the edges of the device improves comfort - who wants to read a book whose pages resemble a death notice?
In a word: do not hesitate. Save a month in most if necessary (this is what I did), but nothing beats the Kobo Aura HD to read books - but a real book ... :-)
