First of all: I use this wireless extender not as a repeater, but as a small, stand-alone access point.
Disadvantage:
The available on the Edimax-page manual is indeed this type of operation in general, but does not describe the device the same.
An email to the Edimax support brought but within 10 minutes, a definite answer: Yes, it is. Adjustable via web front end - but only with a manual link (URL) to achieve:
[...]
(Xxxxxx = accesskey is on device label)
However, there's now a next problem. I have not found a way to encrypt my WLAN. It is still completely open. WPA etc. I can not configure - a request to the support is just but already provided by me.
SUPPLEMENTARY 19/12/2012
During the support had answered the first request within a short time, I wait now now since almost 1 week reply. However, I have the Wi-Fi can now try by something encrypt correctly.
Vindictive
The delivery of Amazon was within 2 days with me. However, with a firmware from the June of this year and thus back two versions. But no problem. Update about Edimax website pulled and aktualisert easily.
The weaving is the way, can only be reached if one makes direct LAN LAN (PtP) connection between computer and device. Then go but problems in itself.
The range of (N-Mode; set channel to a free my little neighborhood) is pretty neat. Schoen was still a timing for the wireless LAN activity.
Due to the somewhat problematic device as AP's only 4 star.
When Extender I have not tested this.
Gruss,
