First impression:
In the first serious test drive my route guidance fell just incorrect speed information to the maps is very appealing, useful calculation of alternative routes to work, the traffic disruptions were shown very reliable and up to date, approached places ever (my locations) are now directly for direct access visible on the map, on the whole exactly as I would expect from a product that is at least 350 regular cost, expecting me.
The little lame and not reliable functioning voice control, and incorrect maps parts and speed information can be yes, thanks to the still to be determined by TomTom - lifelong free update authorization for the GO6000 easy fix. I thought. So fast times InstallMyDriveConnect and the USB driver for the installed GO (went smoothly) and performed the update.
Update problem:
Unfortunately, it was the even what there is to report on positive things. The update was / is still an absolute disaster and produced until further a useless device.
It applies first maps of the order download 6GB. May take, so nothing is for people who are in a hurry. After 15 disconnections and a time of about 4 hours after the download of map data, I then read me by forums in the topic and brought with troubleshooting tips. Everything Cachegeleere and Hardwareresetten until drumroll however, proved unsuccessful. Only the tips: another computer, another operating system, other browsers showed success. On another computer with Win7, the device could not connect via USB. The installation worked ultimately to 12 hours working time (incl. Driver Troubleshooting and div. Installations) on WinXP SP3 and Opera in the current version 12.x on another computer.
In the meantime, I have therefore actually completely unnecessary wasted about 12 hours lifetime at this premium product, in which the customer is obviously still a beta tester. How can it please be nice, so that simple things like a stable USB connection / reliable data transfer under Win7 still does not work? And that should be thought of as users then do another 4 times a year? So many promises a TomTom map updates namely at least a year!
Oh, just so as info on TomTom: the support of WinXP has since set of MS! In this installation guide can therefore no longer count as a provider!
If Medion devices made of ALDI such funny business for 79, I can still understand (and possibly also accept). But not in this price range!
What else is annoying: no way of positioning constantly used functions on the card surface. Why can not I put the switch from day to night colors on the card surface to me? Until the voice command chain for the day-night switching chewed, the 500 meter long tunnel is already far behind me. A per pos voice control. The works brilliantly. In the laboratory, and also in the living room. But not under real conditions in the motor vehicle. The radio must be completely mute for Sprachsteurung. And even then, up to 4 attempts with "Hello TomTom" necessary. At 100 kph! Then quacks nor anyone in the statement text, it may take until the desired result is accomplished verbally.
My conclusion: If the device works, it does what it should, actually quite good. However, I find it completely inakzeptalbel in this price segment the users as a beta tester for the updates and the voice control to abuse. Others can do much better and cheaper. The price / performance in this regard is unfortunately insufficiency
ADDENDUM 25/02/15
Is nice that here Mr. Mrs. TomTom also is reading. The question is: is read or just the review text for keywords (automated) scans and then secreted a Standardblahblah in the comments following. The suspicion suggests itself to me already on, because in my product review I had written explicitly that I had to download the maps on several occasions (in the time of course I could do something else useful, eg Forenrechereche to product), more than 2/3 of the total time However, this plan went, constantly monitor the update history after the completion of downloading from the "cloud", constantly re-insert the device and reset, as the device is no longer connected to the computer saw.
According to other review here in the forum the disconnection issue between Navi and computer is angebllich in an unstable Internet connection (by TomTom), which of course remains to be vorhenden during subsequent actual (locally cached!) Map update (why?). Consequently, the Internetinfrastuktur in Germany has to be very dilapidated, if you want / need to give the faith!
