Looking for a new take-along camera I ordered this camera because I have convinced the functions listed. After two test days I have now decided to go with a heavy heart, she again to send back. I was looking for a camera that is smaller and lighter than my Canon EOS 50D, but more can and especially more zoom than my current take-along camera Canon IXUS 80. The PowerShot SX 130 IS seemed to me therefore to be ideal, and at the same time it has a couple of nice extras that are usually not necessary, but fun. For example, "miniature effect", also in the video version, or I have known from the IXUS color changing capabilities. The advantages of this camera are indeed sufficient already listed in the product description and in the other recessions. 12x optical zoom, beautiful effects lies comfortably in your hand and fits into any pocket, the flash illuminates beautifully, and also with the portrait shots I was very pleased, both with lightning in the interior as well as without good lighting conditions. A bit inconvenient, I find the power: I can see the AA batteries rather than forward, but as a disadvantage, because keep in my experience, the lithium-blocks much longer and I am well so far got there even with extensive photo excursions with a spare battery. Do good AA batteries provide similar performance, I can not judge - but the readily available standard AA batteries have with me, as well as the attached "Erstbatterien", enough for about 30-35 shots and two short movies, the good is me so much. When fainting batteries to extend the time until the flash and prevent the camera was ready again, I know of the lithium battery is not to the same extent. But why I decided ultimately to the PowerShot 130: I lack the sharpness of the zoom shooting. Some of my test images looked as if covered with a light veil over - but spotless - lens. The camera had some problems with the exposure in the automatic function in Autumn sun Weather: the main subject (child in the stroller) was wonderful exposed and well lit, the grassy area around the car was almost white. To really take the camera as a small, lightweight replacement for the SLR, I so do not suffice this, because I can not fully rely on the image quality regardless of me, obvious differences, of course, are aware. Pity!
