As dedicated pen photographer I use the cameras of the series for many years professionally and also own the E-PL5 and E-PM2 which, have worked before with the E-P3, E-PL3 and E-PM1 I longingly waiting for a robust e-P5 in mini format and without the superfluous and therefore pre-flash, the new E-PL7 a month ago. Now I have it for a week now in use and am quite happy with limitations. Plus points are: + The design is elegant poet on the e-P5, the handle, the Kunstbelederung wertig + The built-in WLAN function is opposite the Air Flash card in the PL-5 is a significant improvement. The connection is instantaneous. + The command dial on top of the camera's grip and easier to handle than the wheel on the camera back to the E-PL5 + The stability seems to be compared to that of the E-PL5 significantly improved. But I did not have enough pictures under poor lighting conditions, in order to accurately assess the can. + The price is gratifying favorable for a camera with this image quality. Neutral I rate: the Selfie function is a nice, but unnecessary for me Gimmick Minus points for me are: - The operating noise of the camera is very used to. One gets the impression that permanently run a cooling fan in the housing. Even if I turn off the stabilizer, it roars yet. Well, mostly it is drowned out by ambient noise, but out in the countryside it bothers a little. - On top of the housing plastic is again, as with the E-PL5, installed, which is very susceptible to dirt in the white camera and the overall quality overall impression disturbs. - The dials are milled very sharp. - The battery cover has unfortunately did not get the quality of the hinge E-P5, but is content to continue with the cost of the E-PL5 hinge. - The standard Tragegeriemen does not match the design housing, so for a carrying strap again some bills have to be forked.
Despite some criticisms, it is the best pen I've ever had for me. And the most beautiful anyway. A real little gem. The design is in fact especially if you use the camera professionally, not unimportant. Most people in this country (in Japan is quite different) judge namely Unfortunately according to the formula: The bigger the camera, the better the photographer. But you walk instead of using a SLR Plastikbomber on a downright tiny camera system in appointment, you will be ridiculed quickly compassionately. . Not, however, with the Pen Wherever I show up with the camera, I am asked: What have you got for a great camera? And no one has ever doubted that I can thus make professional photos, which are suitable for the full-page magazine printing. Regarding the technical and visual quality, all pens of the current generation of the best SLR level. I even dare say that despite the small sensor, the image quality even a little better is required to take a picture with the genuine Olympus fixed focal lengths and in RAW format.
