I run the system in the following conditions:
- Onkyo TX SR 307 AV Receiver
- Onkyo SKS HT 528 box set
- Magnat tower speaker (about 10 years old and the exact name I do not remember)
- I have my magnate tower speaker than the front speakers (A) connected for 5.1.
- Sky HD1 satellite receiver (HDMI directly connected TV, optical audio connection to the receiver)
- PlayStation 3 Slim (HDMI directly connected TV, optical audio connection to the receiver)
- Samsung 42 "Full HD LCD TV
- Logitech Harmony FB
- Room size about 20 square meters
Unpacking and connecting:
The devices are as usual safe and well packaged. After unpacking, they are also connected in no time. All speakers are labeled and the cables are color-coded. This is the plug a breeze. A quick plugged optical cables and off you go.
Calibration:
The calibration is a short look at the manual is no problem either. Simply plug the supplied measurement microphone into the input setup and placed in the main listening position. The receiver automatically jumps to the Setup mode and directs you through the measurement process.
Blueray and HD TV:
The sound is for a beginner like me overwhelming. The subwoofer brings a rich bass and surround sound throughout the listening area is just great. The receiver automatically switches to the appropriate input setting (5.1; 2.1; Stereo, etc.).
Music playback:
This I would like to comment only conditionally, since this was previously very well with the Magnat speakers. Even now this is absolutely convincing.
Conclusion:
An absolutely first-class entry-level system for best price. This price should not give up the cinema feeling you. On the downside, the receiver the sound can not take out of the HDMI port and you always requires a separate audio connection. For this reason, I have the HDMI signals even looped through the receiver. HDMI upscaling the receiver can not also. If you need it or want to make a separate audio connection, one should invest around 50 euros more and select the Onkyo TX SR 507. The speaker system meets all the requirements for the beginner. The professional but certainly prefer a vicious system.
