Theory II:
The actual transfer rate of the powerline adapters is in all practical purposes, again significantly lower because power cable always represent only a stopgap measure for the data transfer, and can be located on the road between the adapters many RF obstructions (junction boxes, Stomzähler, interference from other Electronics, .. .). Whether the data transfer rate of an adapter is good or bad, so can test only in comparison with another adapter under identical conditions.
Application:
This is also clear that Powerline is usually only recommended where the convenient wireless denied. In my three walls in the way, and the equipment to be powered (TV and PVR) are site-bound and therefore have a clear advantage with me Powerline over WLAN.
Practice:
Against this background, I am fully satisfied with my adapters (Netgear XAVB2602-100GRS). They provide 5MByte / s user data from one circuit on the flat distribution in a circuit - a total of more than 20m cable run. The indicator light for the transfer rate while light green (optimal). Here note: the manual claims that green light at the transfer rate is greater than 80Mbit / s. We expect to: 5MByte / s = 40Mbit / s, to about 10Mbit / s overhead, extrapolated to both direction is 100Mbit / s gross transfer rate within the meaning of the instructions. There, incidentally, any transfer rate over 80 Mbit / s is considered optimal, what really says it all about the expected Transferate.
Scope of supply:
Delivered an adapter with a port that is connected to the router, and a second with two connection options. Of this, a connection is prioritized and should thus, for example, media streams prioritize data transfers before another device. How well this works, I have not tested. In addition, still will be two white network cable. Manual only in German.
Handling:
The adapters have a socket itself again, so that they do not, the scarce with me, wall sockets block. These outlets have a built-in noise filter to which you should connect as possible all electrical appliances in the immediate vicinity via socket. Surprise: The connecting cable of the connected power strip may not be more than 1m to instructions. A justification for this is not given. Failure to comply with this rule has but caused no apparent problems or faults with me. The adapters come in a power saving mode when no data is transferred for a few minutes. Often, however, many Internet-enabled devices are always active on the network, even if you just no data transferred as user aware. Reliable switch to power saving mode my adapter apparently why only when I turn off my router. All operating states are displayed by three lights (Power / Network / Transfer service). Unfortunately, the order of the light on the two adapters is different. But for that to deduct a full point seems to me an exaggeration, because you can identify the network lights well at constant Geblinke.
Conclusion:
The bone are foolproof to operate. The transfer rate corresponds to my expectations realistic. The price / performance ratio is in order. So overall top score.
