After my new car has a trailer hitch, and I am a passionate mountain biker, it was clear that I'm going to buy a decent bike rack for AHK for this summer - the radius of the bike tours is considerably enlarged (from the transport of bikes in the holiday times not to mention).
I have two mountain bikes, both 29er, a hardtail with 2.25-inch tires and a All Mountain Fully rightly massive fork and 2.4-inch tires. After another customer had asked for this product if also 2.4-inch tires fit and this has been denied by several reviewers, I initially lost in spite of the relatively attractive price, the interest for the model poker F.
But What were the alternatives? Since there are on one hand the models of Thule, which, however, again scarce EUR 100 to EUR 150 are expensive, also bothered me here, that they are not such collapsible in any case that they are, for example, on vacation, if you do not need the vehicle, simply relatively compact can put in the trunk (at least according to my knowledge).
Some models of the provider Uebler fulfill the latter requirement, then costs but also just under EUR 600. I can only speak for myself, but I do not want such an amount to spend on a bike rack, but put any savings rather for a future dream bike for page ...
After weighing all the alternatives I ordered despite the doubts as to the probably wide tires and big wheels to view this model poker F (29er each with frame size L) if I secure transport not yet got done without a having to resort to the two above-mentioned alternatives.
The good news: it works :-) The bad news: some EUR in addition to the purchase price of the vehicle I still need to spend.
In order to get the 2.4-inch tires at all in the rail, I have to let the air out of the tires before transport, then the tires fit naturally loose in the rail, since the impeller itself is indeed significantly narrower. I then have to inflate the wheels again, I do not mind really, because I have an ordinary air pump with nanometer.
To play it safe, I also ordered a few other textile belts of Eufab with whom I festzurre the flat tires on the supplied straps addition to the support rail. Furthermore, I have the two lockable bike holder Eufab 11232 and 11233 ordered, since I enjoy the supplied brackets simply have not looked stable enough (an attachment of bikes on the top tube with a textile belt gives me just do not trust, sorry).
The bottom line is I have now scarce EUR issued in addition to the carrier 55 and am very happy with the result.
For all mountain bikers with wide slippers: who has no problem with it, to let for transporting the air out of the tires, receives here a collapsible bicycle carrier which is still halfway affordable.
