"Driftin Back" seems unnecessarily long, uninspired and poor in emotions. But I love the style of Neil guitariques, including his solos. To top it all he had to address the subject in this piece of mp3 (mp3 wicked !!), about which he does not understand everything, what saddens me as I admire.
The rest is of the same ilk, sometimes too long and above all without too much emotion. Emotions sorely lacking in this disc. The inspiration too. On long pieces, long chorus are linked and are alike.
In his recent works (say after 2000) Neil has already offered long pieces. The whole set of "Greendale" (2003), magnificent, that contains 3 pieces exceeding 10 minutes but "Ordinary People" on Chrome Dreams II (2007), which deserves its 18min. Psychedelic Pill pales face these works there.
Neil Young is prolific, his current career is still passionante. For that I thank him and "forgive" willingly this record that will not fit in my list (already long) Great Albums of Neil Young.
