I rarely read novels to the end: at the slightest invraissemblance, silliness, length, banality, they fall from my hand. This one was offered, otherwise I still would ignore almost everything that reveals the duo me Limonov and Carrère Limonov is a real character, fascinating. Egotism, rebellion, violence, physical courage. Born in 1943 in Ukraine, he still lives and even makes the news as opposed to Putin. Limonov is actually his nickname, evoking both caustic (silt = lemon) and danger (limonka = grenade). He experienced everything, he survived at all: communism, marginality, poverty, decommissioning, uprooting, alcohol, depravity, prison, glory, fame, to contempt and oblivion that were worth to him the defense but also the setting criminal practice of shit ideas. It is served by an intellect, a vitality, a seductive power, incredible audacity. An ability to impose everywhere, in multiple environments and countries where it has penetrated and where, initially, it is nothing: Kharkov, Moscow, New York, Paris, Sarajevo ... It adopts the language , customs, codes and acquires status because it is precisely the environment "underground" where transgression, provocation, but also the talent pay. Especially in his case the writing talent that is mentioned in the book shown. So we want to read this Limonov. To get the idea: why is it the most remarkable for its very life, for the staging of this life, or his writing?
On Emmanuel Carrère, I had not read anything and not really want to read it. I had just spotted on TV: a young but not so young writer, rather handsome but not very good about yourself, trying to make a name, or rather a first name with his most famous subjects. I was wrong. It has a lively writing, fair, lucid, sometimes quite raw, visionary. Limonov I do not know, but he, what writer! I want to read more. He quit smoking!
