Typical Bose, but still expandable!

by now using the catchy Bose Sound Touch 20 I want to ask my review available.

Caveat: I have read in a few reviews regarding the problems with the Fritz! Box 6360 and KabelBW!. This Fritz! Box I use as well, and for me it was no problem. But I had no way to play online since the publication of the current Xbox One. Then KabelBW has changed the IPv6 to IPv4, whereupon I received an open Nat. Maybe I did so with said router no problems in connection with the Bose Sound Touch 20! This can be a solution, but it does not!

Since I personally love most sound systems, I apologize in advance before that my review perhaps a little more detail fails.
If you do not want to read a lot, you my short conclusion could possibly be enough. Otherwise, I wish you much perseverance, but who want to invest a lot of money, should be able to expect a hopefully sufficiently informative review. Here we go ...

Packaging / perceived quality
Here one can undoubtedly speak of a very good quality. The packaging is of sufficient size and stowed the actual box very well. There in my opinion, nothing to complain about.
The Sound Touch is designed very elegantly. The remote looks chic and also stable, although I find the rubberized surface not perfect. Because in my opinion fits to the appearance not entirely the actual SoundTouch. However, this is subjective.
When SoundTouch itself all the buttons and cable inputs are logically arranged.

Installation
If the router problem does not occur, the installation is really child's play. The step by step guide is kept simple, illustrated and for the technology layman (to whom I am also rather be counted in terms of installations, etc.) really feasible.
All the steps are self-explanatory on the surface (I use the Sound Touch on a current MacBook Pro) described. Installation time: about 5-10 minutes (waiting time).
Then you can assign the 6 different presets (presets) with individual Internet radio stations.
An important point in my opinion is the fact that you can connect to the Internet via a network cable also the Bose Sound Touch 20. Not everyone wants or wishes you a WiFi connection. Here you have the choice, which is no longer accessible nowadays.

The most important of Sound
For me, again a typical Bosesound. The bass is really impressive in relation to the body of Sound Touch. By the bass-driven sound, the centers do not come over so completely. The heights in turn are absolutely present. Who knows Bose and the sound is used to immediately know what I mean. Much bass, good treble, less mids. So I would describe it.
Personally, I'm the Bose sound familiar and I think he's good.

How can the SoundTouch 20 are currently used?
It can be selected either via iTunes shared albums streamed directly and also by the available Bose app for the Iphone / Ipad. The app is a bit strange, because no search function is available. I find this example very unfortunate because this can be very nerve-racking for a very large library.
The iTunes library is also only then streamed as long as the corresponding computer is turned on.
If you have turned off the computer, so you can not take advantage of the iTunes library.
If you want to use an iPhone or an iPad, so you can stream it via Airplay. Here then the corresponding Musikapp Apple be used to control.
Bose would supply later in the course of this year, some streaming clients using Update. These can then be installed directly on the Sound Touch.

I am a regular customer Spotify / Rdio / etc. and wants to use the Sound Touch to play?
If you own a MacBook so you can spend the sound generally on the Sound Touch on setting up the Mac. Thus, for when the Mac and now all streaming clients use.
About the Ipad or Iphone This is only possible if one is streaming via AirPlay.

What else I noticed?
-The 6 presets I think is a bit too little. 12 presets or even like more (example: a Shift key, you can select a 2nd level) would have been me simply prefer.
-The remote control is a good size and is well so far in his hand. The rubberized surface is flat vulnerable through this also for lint. It is not lit otherwise.
-if The Bose Sound Touch is not exempt from the circuit, he remains constantly in the WLAN network. Therefore, I prefer always after listening to the mains plug and must not think about any current costs in standby make. The boot time is about 40 seconds until the last played radio station gets going.
-About A jack can of course also be connected at any conventional MP3 player or any other tablet.

What I would still want?
I'd like to stream my library from a NAS. Bose has the Which manufacturer are possible then certified already being planned for the 2nd half of 2014 and with which the NAS should then go, is not yet apparent, unfortunately. This can be found on the homepage of Bose.

Conclusion:
The Bose Sound Touch 20 is a typical Bosegerät again. The workmanship is very good, and concerning the sound in my opinion, just typical Bose (bass fall in relation to the body very well, from the middle of something, heights again very present). As Apple users I'm really super happy. For Android users, it will probably give an app in Google Play Goals, which should allow you to stream via AirPlay. These things I have not tested. I forgive 4 stars to the Bose sound Touch 20, there's a lot of potential exists for improvement. It still lacks many streaming services that can not be controlled directly. Furthermore, the device with 6 presets simply has too little memory options. The app is also still developable and should include at least a decent search function. Let's see whether Bose delivers on its promise Update.
