Ultra lightweight for two who like each other

We have the Power Lizard UL pairs used on a South American backpacking tour (from tropical to alpine) went through diverse climates. The tent was especially designed for multi-day trekking tours as well as an alternative accommodation on the go.

Biggest selling points are undoubtedly the sensational pack size and an incredible weight of just 1060 grams. But the tent is of course correspondingly small, and when to use it for two people, you should get along well.

Assembly and disassembly:
The structure is for two very very painless - alone it could possibly be a bit more difficult. The main point is a good anchoring of the tent ends. Here the small bars should be vertical, so you inside the head and foot has enough room for improvement. This part may have to practice a few times, until the tent is optimal.
For wind stability of the Power Lizard CROSS should be installed to the wind direction. In addition to the 8 fixtures for the floor (3 at each end and 2 at the widest point in the middle), there are two guy lines, that actually would need 10 pegs. However Vaude has (probably for reasons of weight) settled 8 pegs, which is sufficient in most cases, because you save the attachment in the middle of the tent frequently or the guy lines can secure otherwise place with pegs. But this is not always possible, and for areas with high winds should consider to take (min.) 2 pegs more. The pegs themselves are very stable for its thinness and can sometimes knock without bending the same.
Degradation is completely unproblematic, only the small bars on the tent ends can be elicited only with some effort. Fortunately, the tent fits without plug and constraints in the shell, even if you have not it merged perfectly neat.

Space:
The tent is small but quite sophisticated designed: although the inner tent according to the description only 90 cm wide at its narrowest point, there fit our 2 regular mattresses (each 50 cm wide) aligned to each other. At the top end there are still plenty of space to store things like clothes etc. We are after some time gone over to lay their heads to where Vaude proposes the foot because of the perceived space to the ceiling here was bigger and it also total us convenient occurred. The sleeping comfort is not objectionable.
The low height of the tent, however, restricts the freedom of movement clearly a: comfortable seating for two is not in it, and for example, in the rain to here during the day to spend hours, is certainly no fun, because except sleeping and reading in the tent hardly activities are possible.
The vestibule is the Power Lizard along next to the inner tent and very narrow. Two large Trekkingrucksäcke can one just accommodate so without blocking completely the entrance; This press but possibly against the outer tent cover, which is not optimal when it is raining.

Weather resistance:
With wind, even with very strong gusts, the Power Lizard has no problem, if it is well drawn and - if necessary - the herring with stones are complaining.
Some air movement is due to the aeration even more good than bad. In complete calm in tropical moist air it is namely quite to greater condensation, at least in double occupancy.
For this, the temperature characteristics in the cold in the mountains are very pleasing. It comes naturally, especially on the right sleeping bag, but for the head and the air we breathe but also to the tent. We had on the mountain at 4600 m altitude at about -15 ° C significantly more comfortable sleep than in similar circumstances in drafty huts.
Heavy rain like the Power Lizard without additional seam sealing is not so much, not even under trees where ever then the same locations are sprinkled. The skin of the inner tent is wet right after a night of rain before, and this only after their touch - in other words - is uncomfortable during the morning you get up then that it drips into the tent also. I will now seal the seams (also as of Vaude recommended) and hope this solves the problem.
The tent floor is rather thin, and at first I was thinking, nor to create a Plane (sold separately), which of course puts the weight advantage. An extra tarpaulin but has - proved unnecessary - at least for our tour. The floor is very stable and dense.
For stability of the Power Lizard snowfall I can not say anything because we did not have snow.

Handling:
The zipper of the rain fly is abundant hard and happy times a pinched the skin, which it is well aware that he is in a location of the tent with a relatively high voltage (directly on the bow stick). This can mitigate some by tightening the corresponding belt stronger and thus in this direction takes some tension from the tent. We have also observed that the zipper pinching less when one considers it from the inside.
For cleaning or drying after rain or condensation separating outer and inner tents may be necessary, which is very straightforward and intuitive.

Conclusion:
Who counts on weight, has the Power Lizard UL an almost unbeatable lightweight 2-person tent at a very competitive price. However, the space is sized accordingly scarce - can sleep more than comfortable one is not really. This is important if you for example is planning to cook in the rain in the tent.
The Lizard also holds a night out with lots of rain - but several days of rain are likely therefore probably be no fun. Yet it would be wrong, therefore, to call him a "fair-weather tent". The tent is stable in the wind and also in colder temperatures pleasant sleeping comfort, which makes it very attractive for the mountain.
