2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 32GB, all with metal chassis and optional alloys chromium, nickel and gold.
There are also a limited "Encrypted" version with hardware encryption (AES-256).
This key contains a SecureLock GUI and formatted automatically even after five unsuccessful password attempts.
My review is from the Super Talent Pico-C Series 32GB Memory Stick USB2.0 retail without encryption.
I got it from Amazon as a "retail", the official black and silver packaging (Pico Gift Box) including silver chain with mounting tape for your key ring and pendant for the necklace. Delivery via Amazon customary speed and reliability.
Pico_C stands for "Capless", ie without protective cap. This is unnecessary because although the contacts are free, but are due to the full, something deeper embedding but relatively well protected into the metal housing. Although some owners describe problems with plugging in tight USB slots, but I can not confirm. My PC has 8 USB ports, no one made with the Pico problems. With some emotion and gentle pressure of the stick snapped a clean and safe.
### Outer Appearance:
It is actually incredibly tiny, a 5 cent coin almost kills him. He still exudes a certain technical elegance and easily generated disbelief about the amount of space in such a small object. On the front is found in laser engraving of the logo and the corresponding amount of memory. For me, a real little jewel, which due to its light weight (no 6 grams!) And good optics on a key ring or on the necklace you (is water resistant) would like to have always with you. The build quality is very solid. Scratch marks on chromium were not yet up, but other alloys to this supposed to be somewhat more susceptible. The gold contacts facing repeated use lightweight grinding marks, but this is completely normal.
### Power:
The drive is formatted by the manufacturer with the FAT32, making it bootable and compatible (eg BIOS update). Under Windows are effectively 29.8 GB. Out of the box I've tested it with H2testw (good tool from the Heise software directory) on speed and errors. Here is my result:
Write rate: 13.1 MB / s
Read rate: 29.0 MB / s
No errors were Unsurprisingly found.
With data to fill the entire drive took 39 minutes (minus two seconds), it completely read 17.5 minutes (plus 2 seconds).
Tested with H2testw 1.4 on Windows 7 Ultimate.
For a USB 2.0 stick very good values, which should also provide for large data backups for relaxation. Even very comprehensive software installations are unproblematic in terms of subsequent load times. A madman has even testhalber Race Driver GRID (10 GB) installed on it. Although this installation took a long time (several hours), there was then no noticeable load times and he was with online races even always the first player at the start on the server. So fully suitable for gaming!
### Conclusion:
The stick has met all my expectations. Elegant shape plus unobtrusive size, coupled with speed and good workmanship, just perfect. Personally, I would advise variant for Chrome. The nickel and gold versions are probably not as scratch-resistant and for the storage of extremely sensitive data TrueCrypt would be an excellent alternative to the AES-256 hardware encryption.
Full 5 stars on this product!
