Uncomplicated, fast, just a little inconvenient cable ...

Have the card reader ordered Memory King. It is a no-name unit in unremarkable cardboard. The scope of delivery is absolutely okay, there are even included two additional aperture to adjust the device to the housing color. Another black screen was pre-assembled, so I could start right away. Perfect!
The installation was easy, except that I had to use in my case the FDD-rail in order to install the card reader into one of the 5.25 "bays can. Lag course the housing and was not a major obstacle. What I liked less was that the USB cable was designed as a ribbon cable. This will restrict air flow in the housing more than round cable. Overall, however, the effect may not be as large.
As for the speed, so I tested II 2GB SD card with a Sandisk Extreme. The will deliver 20 MB / s.
