The housing is as Canon usual good quality - made (still) in Japan !!!
My Ixus 750 has come in the years, a tremendous smoke and müffelt ....
So PowerShot G12 and new housing were needed!
Quality as usual, but a comfortable shade of the display - nil.
The practical piece silicone missing here unfortunately. Caused a clear picture and protection against scratches ...
For cost reasons, probably deleted ... well, for the displays have become brighter.
The housing is reprocessed clean, with the usual thick yellow O-ring.
The closure makes a stable impression and snaps cleanly.
Here the flash diffuser has been criticized.
Clarification: The housings of the older was certainly better, he also protected the camera front.
But counter jumps from the diving boat he was by no means immune, and a disadvantage there with
the cheap 2-nasal solution no longer. Air bubbles in the bracket, then screw up the optics.
Previously you had to remove the diffuser anyway shortly, and the air bubbles wegschütteln.
Otherwise, I think the new solution also quite ok.
The case is already quite a hunk, my huge glass front.
This very funny half / half shots with the G12 are drolligerweise now possible.
Buoyancy should be compensated by weights.
But an optically triggered external flash unit to be used for usable images.
The diffuser for the built-in flash does a good job only at near-macro.
Even when fish portraits you need more.
After more than 1,000 hours of diving in 10 years, also with mirror reflections for tens of thousands of euros, I can say:
Here you can get for money a lot of tiny art!
Camera and housing costs not even a third of what a good body (body only !!!) costs for a DSLR!
Oh .... always nice O-ring grease, with little fat!
Slamming !!!
