First of all the positive aspects:
- The story is really good and something (relatively) new.
- Sound Technically, it is quite OK
- The setting, the atmosphere, the level design and the many details
- German Version uncut (violence degrees in becoming like those of BF: BC2)
- Control the same as the Call of Duty series
- The missions themselves
- Many different weapons with various attachments
However, there are (unfortunately) a lot of criticism:
- The graphics are really bottom drawer
I know that graphics are not everything and I also knew that the graphics in Homefront should not be the high-flyer. But what was on offer there is in 2011 already an ordeal for the eyes. Partly beautiful textures and many details are available, partially but everything seems totally pixelated. Leaving aside the weapon and the hand that holds time disregarded, the rest (especially the background) acts temporarily like a PS2 game (if any). So I imagine that Black for PS2 partly a far better graphics than had Homefront PS 3! Some levels are well done and also look beautiful from (z. B. the bridge towards the end). Others (the camp of the 'enemy' resistance fighters where you have to steal the helicopter) are graphically under all 'note times the trees!
Unfortunately, dirty a really bad graphics but quite the fun.
- / Lean the details around people or weapons if they are faced with objects themselves.
Is a weapon against the wall or a box etc. leaning or going a comrade in coverage, so the outlines of people are totally pixelated / weapons.
- The target marks of mission objectives
The label always sits directly on the target and is quite groß.Wenn so a sniper will be turned off, so you can hardly recognize this, because it is covered by the mark. In addition, the marking is so great that even details around or even (which is worse) enemies are hidden. Because of the poor graphics and the target marks one sees his opponents often do not / very late.
- The comrades are often in the way, or run comfortably in the middle in the battle in an open area (by the super graphics can often only recognized by sightings,
whether it is an ally or enemy, depending on whether the crosshair is green or even red colors).
- The aim of behavior per se
The control is actually exactly the same as in the Call of Duty series. Thus, one can start from the beginning without having to get used to new combinations. Nevertheless, she does not this sound hakeliger. Do not know how to describe it otherwise. Somehow a fall the exact target and meeting pretty hard.
- Realism (I know it is just a game ....)
If I am 2 feet from the enemy forces in coverage and then to turn the enemy's scouts on the tower (with the sniper rifle without a silencer), then suffers a bit because the atmosphere. There were the Schleich missions in 'Modern Warfare 2' and 'Medal of Honor' far done better (where you could shoot through even Rambo default at MoH if one has been exposed).
- The playing time (quite short, but that just seems to be so fashion in the single-player campaign with all current FPS games).
So, at some point you have to come to an end even once ....
The rating is now probably become a little longer because the anticipation of Homefront was pretty big. The disappointment, then, unfortunately, ...
Conclusion:
Good to very good approaches are available. Nevertheless, one has (or rather I) feel that Homefront had a real big game can be throughout the campaign, if it had been made by the CoD developers (whether from the ground or MW-Team). The game is not bad (except for the graphic that is really bad), yet you get the feeling that something is missing.
With a lot of goodwill and nem zugedrücktem eye I forgive just as 3 stars.
With better graphics and better target behavior, it would have been enough loose for 4 stars.
However, it must be mentioned that the CoD series, MoH, BF: BC2 or Killzone 3 would be far better choices if you just what to look for Shooting.
