I had bought the cable to connect 2.5-inch hard drives without a separate power supply to the PC and Notbook because their equipment cables are usually very short. Unfortunately, the cable seems to have such a high internal resistance, that this can not be reliably supplied with power and are therefore not at all recognized or the connection breaks down again. For hard drives with its own power supply, the cable works reliably.
