This is the first children's laptop we bought. Before purchasing we looked at the other available VTech computer for 3 years online and decided to stay because of the functional description, the reviews, the preference of our son for Winnie the Pooh and of course our own expectations for this model. VTech because we in this brand rather it believed to be found the promised functions useful. The negative impressions of other reviewers, we had taken note, but with a little thought jumpstart was there to do something, or it would not be so bad.
Unfortunately it looked later so that the requirements of the manufacturer to the skills of toddlers and the parents' expectations completely pass. The child is not capable of this device alone, completely to operate at least until the age of 5 - without repeating memorized sequences.
Made optically very nice, the functional sequences unfortunately seem completely ill-conceived. It is assumed someone who is the literate. If it can not, the child, then it will not get alone with this device. If mom and dad have to be there permanently, they can retrieve their offspring all that should mediate this learning computer, teach on less frustrating way by other means.
There are different plug-in cards that trigger a specific, static script. The card may not be bought like other models. After two games, our son has answered most questions by heart, without knowing exactly what he was doing. The letters and numbers on the paper he knew still not.
For incorrect answers only audible feedback is given, which is to assist the child in any way and visual feedback are not provided by the design. The computer does not animate the child so to learn independently, but it rather frustrated, whereby the laptop is then most of the time in the corner.
