In my view the new Civ is a collection of wasted chances.
- The aliens are totally meaningless. Significantly less aggressive than the barbarians is not clear to me the sense of aliens. It takes really a lot of effort to make them more aggressive and if they multiply uncontrollably they make nothing but the card is full. The handling of the aliens has no diplomatic implications, which would be at least an interesting impact.
- The diplomacy as such is completely pointless. It has no effect. The new system of favors is a nice approach, but also integrates completely unclear and weak.
- The spy is a joke. It has no effect in diplomacy, except lame threats and is far too advantageous (One technology after another steal). On the other hand you can almost completely eliminate the spy through appropriate technologies and building and higher levels are impossible.
- The Technology Network (not tree) is confusing and difficult to understand the technologies and building. You build haphazardly away without hesitation, but also has no adverse effects.
- The trading network is far too profitable and opens after a while in massive micromanagement. If then in addition there are solar satellites, one is rolling in cash
- The affinities are a great idea, but again poorly executed. The moment where really affect the affinities has explored almost everything and the distinctions of troops to affinities are hardly noticeable.
- Opponents are totally colorless. This leads to such an extent that you completely lose track of who is actually who is and who represents what civilization since they anyway have no peculiarities.
- The map is cluttered and dark. Not to use the mini map.
- The victory conditions are unclear and by 25% steps is not clear how close an enemy is in front of the victory.
- The quests are sometime annoying in sum a nice idea, but the permanent choice in the "Mini-Quest".
Conclusion: I had awarded 3 points originally, but when writing the review I have found that 2 fit better.
Too bad, I play CIV 5 extremely happy and often, but that will come here because Ran never ever ....
