Unimaginative and monotonous

Since 19 years in business, an impressive 11 albums on the credit side and still look like mid-20s - this description can only fit on a Mariah Carey. "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" is the latest album of the now almost 40-year-old diva who thus takes a glimpse into the past. Of course, you prefer remembers this at the stage when the young Mariah early to mid-90's one of the largest and most influential Stars ever was, the flop of the millennium are rather hidden. If you open the jewel case, so welcome a trailing images of old booklets and you have to say, Mariah has hardly anything lost in their youth, rather the reverse. Another highlight is the current booklet, which in collaboration with the women's magazine "Elle" was and is actually built like a small magazine, even to advertise champagne was intended. The packaging makes ever wanting more, so from the CD slipcase hanky and put it into the player.

If you look at the end of "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", one finds proud 4 remixes of "Obsessed", which all go towards the electro-pop. Certainly times interesting to hear but does not fit the style of this album. Typical for Mariah were it an exaggerated schmaltzy ballad like "HATEU" which ascends with emotional melodies and especially can captivate the listener with the refrain.

Unfortunately, the album from here loses in an increasingly equal sounding, quiet sound. Whether "Candy Bling", "Inseparable" or "It's A Wrap" - everything has the same recipe: extremly slow beat, a few shallow sounds in the background and to a permanent Finger Geschnippe that a duly latest after the second song goes on the mind, unless you stand on this sleep aid. Moreover, does Mariah again old mistakes and breathed her lyrics almost into the microphone from power and right feelings is as little trace. Fortunately, there are between one or the other by then faster song, Examples would be "Up Out To My Face" and "More Than Just Friends", but listen to the also almost like each other copies. A beat that brings the boxes briefly to the quake, to again a piano, which then total lack creativity sounds, but is at least audible, also because Mariah Carey settles into a bit more stuff in this type of song. Basically so's all been said about this album, because the rest has absolutely nothing new, rather, we hear constantly one and the same lyre, as long tracklist is in this case a real disadvantage. The positive impression that the jewel case has left, the musical side of "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" by far can not implement. Where the artwork had good ideas, because there was a lack in the production of those very clearly. Hardly a change, moreover, no innovation - everything ever been there and better. This album unfortunately confirms what all know, do not want to admit only Mariah and her hardcore fans: the years of descent of the former icon goes on ceaselessly. Who knows Mariah previously only from the radio of "Heartbreaker" etc., should definitely check it before in this album, but even fans of theirs is the recommended one could otherwise be severely disappointed.
