Have been the first version of the EF-S 55-250mm (initially at a 450D, then the 700D) is used in which I have been surprised by the great price-performance ratio. But it was me, unfortunately, every now and then when focusing a bit too slow (often go hunting for insects). The question was, of course, if the new STM lens is really so much better that the new acquisition is worth? I thought it would ultimately be ordered with the intention of equal return it back if it is not much better. The decision is, however, very easy for me after the first test shots. Focusing super fast, super quiet and fail, images knackscharf over the entire zoom range, great colors. The move was worth it - provided you have a Canon, which can exploit the strengths of the STMs (eg 700D, 70D). Of course, it can not at the Abbildunsgleistung measure with my 100mm 2.8 USM, but is surprisingly close and for the price (around 250) a real bargain. I use it whenever I need more zoom or more flexibility in the focal length of my photo safaris.
