The spa located supplied storage case includes a small aluminum plate on which the individual serial number of the ear is lasered. On the sides it is not closed, which could approach penetrate dirt and dust on the ear over time. A regular case might have been better in the case, although the IE800 case is top quality and the magnetic lock is flush.
The cable is permanently mounted on the ceramic package of the IE800 and not interchangeable - my opinion is not acceptable in this price region. A coaxial or T2 cable plug system would certainly have still found its place, the most widely used 2-pin connection system would, however, failed for lack of space.
At Y-splitter cable is detachable, a move by Sennheiser to offer a remote control cable with control at that point in retrospect can - as completely tauschbares cable this would however have been possible. Too bad.
Through this connector at the Y-splitter, the train of InEars is also quite high, which is why I recommend a carrying manner with the cable routing on the ears.
Enough criticized on the optics, continue to sound:
Tonal the IE800 goes in the direction of fun: Stressed Bass, accentuated treble.
The emphasis on the bass extends over the entire frequency range and increases gene bass on getting stronger.
The tweeter is lifted from the upper heights and still not sibilant, because it is free of stress peaks - this is advertised by Sennheiser with the "equalized tweeter". Despite the emphasis on the treble sounds therefore pleasant.
The detail resolution is at a high level, although the IE800 a musical Schönfärber (not meant negatively) and is also sound bad shots still good.
The stage representation and space is good.
The stage covers very broad in width, without, however, neglecting the depth. Nearby is also well represented.
However, the signal depth and Instrumentenseperation could be a bit better.
Although the IE800 has an acoustic transducer, the bass range is quite dry and sounds reasonably quickly.
However, to the drought and speed of BA drivers of IE800 is approaching not quite, although the differences to good BA InEars are not great.
(Relatively) Cheap Multi-BA-InEars and some InEars with rear ventilated BA-Bass but proposes the IE800 markedly favorable InEars with dynamic drivers also have no chance against the IE800 bass in terms of precision and speed.
The softer compared Bass of Sennheiser will surely please many, and perceived as a musical.
The overall performance is phenomenal for an ear dynamic driver and with slow and moderately fast shots I see him on a par with good More drivers BA InEars. Only with quick shots the discrepancy is clearly, albeit to a limited extent.
If the price is therefore justified?
With the ulterior motive that it was "only" a dynamic driver is, in any case. In the IE800 a lot has been invested in development work for the driver and Sennheiser's full-bodied promises after the presentation, to have created an evolution in InEars with dynamic drivers were definitely not empty marketing words.
However, the non-replaceable, moderate sounding cable is the overall impression with good sound and ceramic case definitely does not do justice and leads to a star deduction in the overall assessment.
