This assortment of Fischer has all the popular sizes in it you need: 5, 6, 8 and 10mm. There are the 6.8 and 10mm plugs still in two different versions: the "SX" Anchors (quadruple expansion shields) and the Universal Plug "UX". Both keep in concrete, solid bricks and perforated bricks, the "UX" additionally in cavities (eg plasterboard / drywall). The SX now have not really convinced me in hollow bricks, concrete they hold but good. The UX are quite good also in hollow bricks. Both anchors are places for "pre-positioned", so they have a collar at the end, which prevents slippage that they can therefore but not stuck by the board to be mounted (or whatever).
Important Tips for anchors that I had to learn the hard way:
- In hollow brick not drill with blow, otherwise the anchor holds not clever because ridges break off or the hole is too big.
- If the drill is not sharp enough to drill without hammering, intelligent drill buy (I use "Heller Allmat")
- Make the hole absolutely dust-free, otherwise the drilling dust acts as a lubricant and the anchor slips out.
- Normal expansion anchors (eg Fischer "S") hold not very good in hollow bricks. The in this case are better
Am fully satisfied with the selection. The only downside is that there are no 5 Series SX dowel going here are the attach particularly well to little things that weigh hardly anything (cable channels, surface mount boxes, light bulbs). The 5 Series UX are then already a bit long. In general, the UX plugs are always a little longer than the SX, which probably contributes to their better retention values. Therefore, the two varieties complement each other quite well.
Update Now that I have attached a couple of things: the assortment is still unbeaten, the anchors are not really bad, but the TOX Tri are simply still significantly better. I had screwed a bicycle bracket with two dowels on the wall - because I wanted to see who does better, I have a Fischer UX and Tox Tri (both 8x50) used. Result: the Fischer UX has worked out of the wall (hollow bricks) two centimeters, the Tox budge. Now have the UX exchanged for a Tox and since then keeps the bike on the wall.
So a point deduction, because the anchors hold but are not as good as others.
