Having found that the large file transfers were very slow, I made measurements with AIDA64:
- Connected to a USB2 port: average speed 32.4 MB / s
- Connected to a USB3 Port: average flow rate 43.1 MB / s
Note, the flow is almost constant from beginning to end of the disc
We are very far from normal values debits USB3 should rotate between 80 and 100 MB / s, it should be near the speed E-Sata
gold I also have another external drive that can connect either by USB2 or by E-Sata, with the following rates:
- Average flow USB2, 31 MB / s
- Flow in E-Sata start of record: 113.5 MB / s
- E-Sata flow in the middle of drive: 99.8 MB: s
- Flow E-Sata end disk: 60 MB / s
conclusion: WD Passport Ultra drive fails all his promises, so avoid if you are looking for performance.
