Everyone has said before, the housing blocks flash and you end up with a picture that looks like a comparative "with or without flash." Canon provides a diffuser whose use is more like a monocle than anything else and end up holding the diffuser has to be on it does not fall when you are in pursuit of a fish is rather frustrating.
Very annoying point for owners of G12: Canon has had the brilliant idea to add an index knob that allows you to define particular opening or following speeds you are Tv or Av mode Brainstorm that will delight all. Cannon SLR owners like me but bad luck, this button does you nothing once your G12 in its airtight case because it was not planned at the time of the design of DC 34. That is, if Only if you have forgotten to calibrate your speed and aperture for underwater photos, your photography skills will be put to the test.
Third annoying point the air is humid tropic, when you open your box to remove the SD card that you took to see the catch of the day, the case loads in moist air and during intensive use of your G12 heats lot, mist appear in the case and therefore the pictures. I tried to put anti moisture bags to dry the inside of the box thinking has a micro leak but this is actually the camera that heating causes the fog ... rather annoying. The remedy is to turn off the camera and wait until it cools and the moisture disappears. So "Patience, it is the holidays" will be your motto.
I wanted to make a saving by taking the instrument pack and housing that costs less than half the box pro SLR and although I am extremely pleased that the G12 is an excellent compact, I regret that the waterproof case is so bad designed (flash fogging + + wheel). Let's be honest, when I even managed to make photos / videos HD excellent despite the inconvenience but this waterproof case is 2 stars (against by the G12 is 4). Would suit those wishing to make "wet" areas pictures from time to time but certainly not for our passionate explorers of seabed.
