Precise, battery-free and healthy (usually if it is pure stainless steel!); this utensil is handy. By contrast levels are very difficult to read on the dial; the brand could make an effort for the price to provide at least the French public a version without Fahrenheit taking any legibility already too because of the partial count from 5 to 5 degrees. Also, do not be fooled by the photo: the degrees are inverted with respect to Fahrenheit and so are written in the inside of the small dial. Similarly, the dial does little more than 2 cm in diameter and the stem about ten centimeters. Finally, the fact that the temperature does not rise above 100 just be a big disadvantage that the use you want to do, think twice before buying. Despite these flaws that make it not worth so many good comments, I acknowledge and appreciate the reliability of measurement. Indeed I confirm that it indicates both the temperature that my good old mercury thermometer. I would say ideal for measuring the temperature of tea or occasionally taking the temperature directly; less for cooking, the probe is too short for a particular pot.
