Each player is dealt 5 cards. In the middle is revealed from the other cards the top and the players take turns one of their hole cards to the disclosed card store. The hand card must match either in color or number / animal with the openly designed card. If you have no suitable card you have to draw a card from the deck.
To make things a little more exciting, there are action cards. So there is a +1 per color map (the next player must draw a card), a +2 card (the next player must draw two cards), 1 exposure-map (the next player must sit without action) and 4 color changing cards ( The player gets to choose a color that needs to be played by the next player).
The player who was able to put the first hand all cards to the stack wins the game. But woe to he UN forgot to say, as soon as he only holds a card in his hand, then he must draw cards as punishment.
Personal conclusion:
My little one has learned with the Standard Edition UNO. Since they can not read, it compares the numbers due to the form. In order to make her the whole thing a little more intuitive, I thought of a special UN-Edition.
At UN Junior numbers are still on the cards, but they are supported by animal motifs. So every number has mapped her unique Tierpendant on the map. One can thus also somewhat promote learning numbers.
What has been very well modified for UN entry is the removal of +4 Cards. As will be played from the start with 5 cards the card number for little hands is better dimensioned. A +4 filled mostly quite a child's hand and a victory is no strategic thinking is no longer possible. Since the game is fun but the kids it's been a good solution to +4 cards to be replaced by cards +1.
All in all, I find the game succeeded. I would even say, depending on the level of development that the game already from 2 - playable 2.5 years and it still has fun the children. The build quality is OK. Not extra strong, what I would have expected from a child variant which is touted from 3 years, but no worse than the standard version. The H2O Edition stands out particularly in this field.
So for the little ones a strong buy recommendation.
