The video mode is for its high performance, certainly one of the best if not the best among the compact. Specialists may be put off by the 24p at 1080p mode, regarded as due to less fluid than 60p but the sharpness, colors and sharpness are almost irreproachable; especially when we know that this is a compact camera. To "compensate" for the lack of 60p, Canon still judiciously implemented high-speed video modes (120fps in VGA / QVGA 240), which are very nice to use.
The zoom is fast in photo mode, a little less in video mode but it is unquestionably good and accurate. Stabilization is sufficient and can be taken into beautiful TV; almost as well as wide angle.
Finally, the black point of this device is the battery life. If you use a little video mode or if you turn on the GPS, the battery is empty very quickly. Even in single image mode, this camera is down sharply compared to the competition on this aspect.
In conclusion, I would say that the strengths of this Canon SX230 HS almost completely erased the weak point that is the autonomy and I highly recommend it to anyone wishing an extremely versatile compact. I am personally very satisfied.
