Clearly heavier than the 18-55 IS STM provided with the kit my 700D, the ring rotates clockwise to zoom in (unlike my Canon) and a hard coat for my taste. The focus ring, it is a bit short for precise adjustment in manual mode, it is possible but it takes skill, especially in video. The objective is not compatible full time manual focusing, disable autofocus to use the focus ring.
The lens comes with a lens hood hard plastic caps and of course front / rear and package leaflet and instructions to obtain warranty 5 years.
Note that the goal is not that I find macro and the minimum focusing distance of sometimes a bit limiting, 10cm less would have been perfect.
As for the other technical characteristics, I refer you to the manufacturer's website or DXO Mark that references particularly well.
Level use, the stabilizer brings a real plus for particular movies and help for some pictures (still subject). The autofocus seems a bit slow compared to my Canon IS STM, especially in low light and I find it too noisy to film. Sometimes it "patina" and I feel that it is about 2 times slower than the kit lens, nothing alarming though. By filming it makes a noise characteristic "click" gear, it is far from the noise of certain objectives, but the sound remains audible.
By shooting up, we must take the ring so that the lens does not retract when it's 50 to 200mm zoom. The lock button works only 18mm.
Sustainability level, the product is guaranteed 5 years, I think be covered.
Picture level, I'm not an expert, but you can not say that the quality has stunned me, it is not bright (or faster depending on what you prefer), you will have seen in the description, but I do not find it beautiful at the dive either. It is perfectly acceptable for the price, but not exceptional. Given its focal range, it is nevertheless doing very honorably and at this price, for this range "all in one", there are not many options.
Lightroom with correction profiles for this, it is easy to correct the distortion. Note however that the objective is not recognized and must select manually, it appears as a classic 18-270mm.
For the remaining parameters, the RAW magic will operate and you can get images quite satisfactory with some slight changes.
Opening level they are distributed approximately as follows:
3.5 till 24mm
4 till 34mm
4.5 till 45mm
5 till 75mm
5.6 until 154mm
6.3 until 270mm
You'll understand that this goal is practical, acceptable quality but versatility is paid. A lack of light, autofocus a bit slow and noisy for video and a correct overall quality but far from being perfect. However for the price, you should not expect a series canon type lens L. It fulfills the office that is his and will be perfect for holiday photos, especially if you go in a sunny or his lack of openness will be less sensitive. However if you want perfect pictures or if you plan to take lots of photos at night, it is clearly more appropriate to start on a brighter objectives. It is also possible to complete it with some bright fixed focal or a 17-50 opening 2.8 for example.
For video, however, I would advise to go on IS STM targets for Canon owners, they are much quieter, and even if it takes 2 to cover the same focal range, they are very light and should not weigh more heavier than the single Tamron. Remains the disadvantage of changing lenses.
