b) Relative Rating
For three years, am I use almost exclusively Sony WX7 and snow and sea sand have already left their mark, so I decided to WX220 as successor, since it looks almost identical and has been praised in various tests. After a few weeks, it turns out that Sony has made to me a clear deterioration.
(O) More pixels. WX220 has 18 MP instead of 16 MP (WX7). Who needs that? I certainly do not.
(O) image quality. Camera is much praised, but I can not notice any improvement. I have about two dozen images shot in pairs with two cameras and can only say is a better, sometimes the other.
(+) Lens. 10x zoom (WX220) is better than 5x zoom (WX7), but only for the people who need it. A pocket camera is 99% of the time used in my local area, so I do not care less whether max Zoom 5x or 10x is.
(-) Lens. Significant deterioration is the light intensity. From 2.6 (WX7) it goes to 3.3 (WX220). In practice, you get: an indoor scene is shot with two cameras. WX7 creates with 1/20 s and WX220 needs 1/8 s at the same ISO setting. Who know a bit about shutter speeds know that with 1/20 still (just) can photograph from the hand in the 1/8 is excluded.
(-) Lens. Slight deterioration in the minimum focal length of 4.5 to 4:45 in the shooting in small spaces, this can decide whether all people "in it" are, or someone is cut off.
(-) Video. One of the greatest strengths of WX7 was video mode with 1280x720 with 6MB / s (!) For those who can not quite place it, (ie models from 2011 as WX7) require comparable Canons and Nikons 30-35 Mb / s because save only with MJPG instead MP4 or AVCHD. What did WX220? Improved? No! This mode has been removed! Once you want to have more resolution than VGA, you have a minimum of 12 Mb / s to accept. Hello, Sony, you have marbles ??
(-) Operator. Previously you could turn right on the wheel and select the recording mode. Now you have it in the menu

(-) Operator. WX7 has a great function: while rotating a video, you can shoot the images, without having to interrupt the video recording. WX220 does not have this function.
(+) Operator. WX220 has the usual USB port on smartphones. WX7 has a Sony-own connection and I always have the right cable Sony have there.
I hope that I will still discover positive sides of WX220 over time. Then I'll get.
PS. Fi and control via smartphone I have not tried yet. That could be good toy
