While I, like almost all the commentators of this book, an absolute fan of Preston & Child and Pendergast inspector ... I'm really disappointed "Cursed Cruise" .While I read all the books in two or three days so the plot was involved, I put more than a month to reach the end of it, without really enjoy it. It does not recognize the inspector Pendergast other chapters (The chamber of curiosities; Relic; the book of the dead, the devil violin or the croaking of the night .... which are really excellent!) In these books, Pendergast always incredible and rational explanation for the seemingly fantastic and supernatural phenomena ..... there is no longer the case. The history of ectoplasm (or protoplasm, I do not know) is really not worthy of the previous books. The end is really sloppy, very ordinary characters, very thin plot, any plot twists etc ..... only the passage of the card game I liked. Is Preston & Child would be burnt? It would be a shame, because I have known very few writers who were equally impressed me in their novels! I still put two stars for any previous pleasures.
