The sound is much better directly through the IPod plug, not by the jack. Very useful in the car with a jack cable / ipod jack.

Be careful though, it is impossible to change the volume from the iPod / iPhone when the sound goes through the ipod jack. I had also bought because my jack is defective, thus it becomes useless to me for this purpose. A priority with headphones with volume control for this purpose.
