Very good 35er

I use the lens on an analog Nikon F4 and a Novoflex Adapter to a Canon 5DII. In the latter configuration, the marriage of two rival works perfectly and forms a truly harmonious team. Who would have thought?

Who the predecessor, so the purely manual AIS 35 2.0, with which it of the intrinsic values ​​ago is indeed identical, knows and had in his hand, perhaps a little is rummäkeln on the processing quality of the successor, then sets but found that there is processed fairly solid and can also be operated manually well. It's still nice and compact with the screw-on lens hood.

In conjunction with the F4 lens already delivered a very convincing performance and I quickly realized that one is well equipped with this focal length for much of the exceptional circumstances. Even on film the crisp sharpness at higher aperture values ​​and the really brilliant contrast performance of the lens can be clearly identified.

In conjunction with the 5DII optics then runs on top form. I was blown away when I could connect it for the first time to this camera and view my photos, which of course had a bit to do with my rather screwed down expectations. Despite the age is immediately clear that one is dealing with a modern look which on contrast - is trimmed and sharpness back. Those who deal with old lenses, will know the development leap that took place there in the 80-90s and was largely driven by Canon and Nikon. So this lens runs slightly dimmed already in top form and even with maximum aperture provides a convincing performance. On full frame vignetting at open aperture is of course recognized, but rather be moderate, and can be found slight fringing, but dimmed progressively disappear. At close range, it provides a really nice bokeh, which slightly increases in the remote area of ​​hardness, but also is not really unpleasant intrusive. In addition, the maximum aperture allows even a nice exemption at close range, which I personally like very much.

I could buy relatively cheap on the used market my lens yet, now the second-prices pull but neat to. This is, however, still get it new, testifies that at least Nikon believes still to be competitive with the lens. I think so wrong are not there.

Anyway, I'm very pleased with the optical quality of the lens and it must not be at the calculated for small format lenses hide behind new, good optics. On the contrary, it has in my opinion, to do it with a really great design.
