Was tested on the following players:
- CD, Denon conditioning, cable: The clear winner AKG, here you can hear the better resolution at its clearest. The Sony is much duller and very bassy
- PC, BT Adapter Logilink aptX, Spotify Unlimited: problems with the AKG, do not get zuverlässliche connection state (? Crashing repeatedly, fragmentation, no reasonable quality despite aptX, incompatibility with Logilink), no problems with the Sony, sounded slightly worse than via cable, but not noticeably. Winner: Sony (Says Thank You to Logilink)
- Nexus 5, cable, Google Music Stream: Again you can hear clearly that the AKG is the higher quality sound headphones.
- Nexus 5, BT, Google Music Stream: Poorer quality when AKG compared to cable, but perfectly acceptable. This may be because the Nexus 5 at protecting not APTX, for high bit rate SBS, which in turn only Sony can (pure speculation !!!). When Sony I can not make a difference to the cable. Winner: Sony
NFC pairing:
Power with the AKG and the Nexus 5 no problem. Just hold out, confirm ModalDialog, finished. The next time, the headset connects automatically to the mobile phone. Sony zickt pairing, though NFC pairing is enabled. Eventually became a truly hands-normal.
Features Sony:
- Well rumbled, very comfortable, warm
- Beautiful and high quality despite Plasik
- A lot of bass and somewhat dull in tone, but not generally bad, good volume in BT mode
- Extensive powers of control in the BT operation (NFC On / Off, Next / Previous, Play / Pause, Volume Up / Down)
- AAC and SBC
- No APTX
- Terminal covers (I personally find annoying, of course, also has its advantages)
- Super battery capacity (almost 3 times from AKG, 925 mAh, 30 h.)
- Carrying Case
- Very chic and sophisticated packaging
AKG properties:
- A little easier (281.5g vs. 297g) and cooler, but less soft padding (especially the top of the bracket)
- Nobler, wertigeres design and metal joints instead of plastic
- Better resolution in the entire range and balanced sound perception (especially on the cable)
- Bass for certain genres to "thin" at Dubstep almost ridiculous, especially compared with the Sony
- No carrying case (a joke in the price)
- AAC, SBC, APTX
- Glossy elements on the shells may scratch easily (will be shown)
- Micro-USB connector goes with me purely only halfway, but stops well trotzem
- Lower battery capacity (320 mAh, 8 hrs.)
Conclusion:
Both headphones are very well made and have their strengths and weaknesses. I am glad that I ordered both to be able to compare themselves. Whether any of Sony or AKG is sonically typically enjoyed very individual and depends on the style of music, as well as personal preferences. Who wants thick bass and a long term, rather tend to Sony, for all audiophiles of AKG's my clear recommendation.
AKG star: 1 star deduction because of the low battery capacity, the lack of pocket and the 60 euros that costs the black version just more (I almost 2 stars deducted, but grace in law)
Sony star: 1 star deduction for the clearly inferior sound quality, bass preferences or not
For me, it was ultimately the AKG because of his by outstanding sound wired and stylish design, and the fact that the BT connection is only one solution for traveling or special situations where the cable interferes.
UPDATE 01/25/2014:
After almost 2 months, I am still quite happy with the AKG. However, it is not possible for me to use the Bluetooth function without the APTX codec. The quality of APTX is truly outstanding - clear highs, precise, crisp bass. APTX is an entirely wrongly by some manufacturers neglected technology that other codecs, especially the Bluetooth standard SBC codec, is vastly superior. As a player I use my Macbook now mainly because Mac OSX supports the APTX codec.
8 hours of battery life I can now assessed as adequate. Sorry, to come 2 little things that spoil the joy of the AKG something. For one thing, especially in the dark unbearable, very bright blue flashing during operation, which makes it impossible on mobile phone in bed to watch a movie. Second, the headphones can not be used via Bluetooth while you are charging it. It remains at 4 stars.
